Tuna & Oat Cat Treats

Makes: ~30 small treats
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 10–12 minutes

🐱 Ingredients:

  • 1 can of tuna in water (drained)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or salmon oil
  • 1 cup oat flour (or ground rolled oats)
  • 1 tablespoon dried catnip (optional – most cats love it!)

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a blender or food processor, combine the tuna, egg, and oil. Blend until smooth.
    • Transfer to a bowl and stir in oat flour and catnip (if using) to form a soft dough.
  3. Shape the Treats:
    • Roll the dough into small balls (about marble-size) or flatten slightly with a fork.
    • Place on the prepared baking tray.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until firm and lightly golden.
    • Let cool completely before giving to your cat.

🧊 Storage:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • Freeze for longer shelf life (up to 2 months).

Why It’s Great:

  • Tuna is rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Oats are safe in small quantities and provide fiber.
  • Catnip adds fun and appeal for most cats (can be omitted if your cat isn’t a fan).
