Beef & Sweet Potato Grain-Free Dog Food Recipe

Servings: About 8 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes

🐶 Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 2 ½ pounds ground beef (lean)
  • 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ½ zucchini, grated
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
  • 1 egg (optional, for protein and healthy fats)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed or chia seeds (for omega-3s)

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Cook the Sweet Potato:
    • Boil or steam diced sweet potato until soft (about 10–12 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet or pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (7–10 minutes).
    • Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add Veggies:
    • Stir in green beans, carrot, zucchini, and cooked sweet potato.
    • Cook for another 5–7 minutes, until vegetables are tender.
  4. Add Pumpkin and Egg:
    • Mix in the pumpkin puree. If using egg, crack it directly into the pan and stir to scramble and cook it through.
    • Add optional flaxseed or chia for a nutritional boost.
  5. Cool & Serve:
    • Let the mixture cool completely before serving to your dog.

🧊 Storage:

  • Refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze individual portions for up to 2 months—just thaw and serve as needed.

Why It’s Great:

  • Beef is rich in protein and iron.
  • Sweet potato and pumpkin provide fiber, beta-carotene, and support healthy digestion.
  • Coconut oil helps with skin and coat health.
  • Completely grain-free, making it ideal for dogs with grain allergies or sensitive stomachs.
